Poland

The Republic of Poland is a country in Central Europe and a member state of the European Union. Its territory extends from the beaches along the Baltic Sea in the north to the Sudetes and Carpathian Mountains in the south. The population of about 36.8 million occupies an area of about 322,000 square kilometres. 

Many Poles can speak English, and the country is experienced in organising big events, such as the UEFA Euro 2012 and World Youth Day 2016. Poland has a modern transportation infrastructure and an extensive network of bus, rail, and air connections, both international and domestic, with affordable prices.

Gdańsk has a well-developed transit system and many bike paths. You can hop on and off the Rapid Urban Rail and buses within the city. Trams will take you to the city beaches (15 minutes from the city centre), buses will take you to the Tricity Landscape Park (25 minutes from the city centre), the Rapid Urban Rail takes just 20 minutes to reach Sopot, a neighbouring city famous for its health resorts, and extending the ride by 10 minutes will take you to Gdynia (a port city).

Los tranvías les llevarán a las playas de la ciudad (a 15 minutos del centro), los autobuses al Parque Paisajístico de la Triciudad (a 25 minutos del centro), el tren urbano rápido tarda sólo 20 minutos en llegar a Sopot, ciudad vecina famosa por sus balnearios, y alargando el trayecto 10 minutos se llega a Gdynia (ciudad portuaria).

Wide sandy beaches and forested areas, few hundred of lakes and rivers, as well as fields filled with gifts of nature, those are just a few of advantages of Pomorskie region. Everyone, who comes here will be able to use all of those. Pomorskie is a Host Region for the 26th World Scout Jamboree. 

Moving Dunes

In the Slowinski National Park every day there is a special spectacle, whose main characters are sand and the wind. The biggest dune is 40 metres high – Gora Lacka, they move around several metres per year, covering the nearby forest. The nearby forest is as mysterious as the dunes, full of broken by the wind trees, showing how the ecosystem works. Some kayak paths end here, like those from Leba and Lupawa rivers.

Those who love the sea life have to visit the Sealplace of the Sea Institute of Gdansk University department of Oceanography in Hel and the Sea Aquarium in Gdynia. The Sealplace in Hel is mainly a scientific research facility, they want to enlarge the seal population in the Baltic Sea.

The Sea Aquarium in Gdynia on the other hand is housing the most interesting and the rarest kinds of fish, amphibians and reptiles from all over the world, for example Africa and North and South America. There are three floors, 68 enormous aquariums, 1500 living organisms. Sea park in Sarbsk  also has a very interesting offer for families, where You can get to know more about the living creatures, that lived in the sea million years ago.

The Sea Inspirations

The longest in Poland sandy beaches, majestic cliffs, sea breeze, special kinds of plants and endless sea – this is what makes Pomorskie special. The richness of the sea gives opportunity to spend Your free time in an active, dynamic or romantic way. Sea sports, it is not just sailing or diving but also windsurfing, kitesurfing, water scooters as well as, pleasure boat or fishing boat trips.

On clean, Baltic beaches it is worth going for horse riding, jogging, nordic walking or just strolling, searching for piece of amber. Walking along the shore You can admire lovely fishing ports with boats, from which You can buy fresh fish. You can also try going for boat fishing trips in the sea. A very interesting element of the see shore are well preserved lighthouses, which were used as navigation signs, now are historical monuments and tourist attractions.

Dunas en movimiento

En el Parque Nacional Slowinski cada día se celebra un espectáculo especial, cuyos protagonistas son la arena y el viento. La duna más grande tiene 40 metros de altura - Gora Lacka, se mueve varios metros al año, cubriendo el bosque más cercano. Este bosque es tan misterioso como las dunas, lleno de árboles rotos por el viento, que muestran cómo funciona el ecosistema. Algunas rutas de kayak terminan aquí, como las de los ríos Leba y Lupawa.

Descubre qué hay en el fondo del mar

Aquellos amantes de la fauna marina deben visitar el centro de conservación de focas del Instituto Marino de la Facultad de Oceanografía de la Universidad de Gdansk en Hel y el Acuario de Gdynia. El Centro Hel Seal es principalmente un centro de investigación científica, cuyo objetivo es aumentar la población de focas en el Mar Báltico.

El Acuario de Gdynia, por su parte, alberga las especies más interesantes y raras de peces, anfibios y reptiles de todo el mundo, por ejemplo de África y América del Norte y del Sur. Tres pisos, 68 enormes acuarios y 1500 organismos vivos de 250 especies sólo algunas de las atracciones que podrás ver aquí. El Parque Marino de Sarbsk ofrece también una oferta muy interesante para las familias, donde se puede conocer mejor a los seres vivos que vivían en el mar hace millones de años.

Las inspiraciones del mar

Las playas de arena más largas de Polonia, majestuosos acantilados, vegetación única, brisa marina, y un mar interminable - esto es lo que hace especial a Pomorskie. La riqueza del mar brinda la oportunidad de pasar el tiempo libre de forma activa, dinámica o romántica. Los deportes náuticos no son sólo la vela o el buceo, sino también el windsurf, el kitesurf, las motos acuáticas, la pesca y los cruceros turísticos.

En las limpias playas del Báltico vale la pena montar a caballo, trotar, caminata nórdica o simplemente pasear en busca de trozos de ámbar. Caminando por la orilla se pueden admirar preciosos puertos pesqueros con barcos, en los que se puede comprar pescado fresco. También se pueden hacer excursiones de pesca en barco por el mar. Un elemento muy interesante de la costa son los faros bien conservados, que se utilizaban como señales de navegación y ahora son monumentos históricos y atracciones turísticas.

Not Only the Sea

Pomorskie is the region with a big number off lakes and river routes. We may easily say that everybody will find his special place here. Visiting the region by a kayak or boat for sure we shall find plenty of hydrotechnical monuments and many places what will stay in Your memory for a long time. Visiting Gdansk Mail Town  by the kayak is something completely different than an ordinary walking tour.

No sólo el mar

Pomorskie es una región con un gran número de lagos y ríos. Se puede decir fácilmente que todo el mundo encontrará aquí su lugar especial. Visitando la región en kayak o en barco seguro que encontraremos un montón de monumentos hidrotécnicos y muchos lugares que se quedarán en tu memoria durante mucho tiempo. Visitar la Ciudad Postal de Gdansk en kayak es algo completamente diferente a un paseo ordinario.

Not only Monciak

Un lugar muy importante en el mapa activo de Pomorskie son los Bosques de Tucholskie, con el segundo parque nacional más grande de la región con muchas rutas de senderismo y ciclismo.

No sólo Monciak

El paseo más popular de las Pomorskie es "Monciak", una calle llena de vida, llamada Los Héroes de Monte Cassino. La cantidad de cafés, restaurantes, clubes, boutiques, galerías y tiendas situadas a lo largo de "Monciak" hacen de esta calle un lugar muy importante para la diversión y las fiestas en la Triciudad. En muchas ciudades se construyen nuevos paseos, calles renovadas, y bulevares fluviales, como en The most popular walking way among the Pomorksie cities is “Monciak”, a full of life street, called The Heroes of Monte Cassino. The number of cafes, restaurants, clubs, boutiques, galleries and shops located along “Monciak” makes this street a very important location for fun and party activities in the Tricity. In many towns new promenades and renovated streets, river boulevards are being revelled, like in Lebork, Slupsk, Chojnice, Tczew and y Koscierzyna. Those places are inviting You for a walk too.

The architectonic curiosity for an European scale is the pier in Sopot – the longest wooden pier in Europe. The biggest attraction of Sopot is 511,5 metres long and it the landscape attraction since 1827. It is worth also visiting other piers in Brzezno or Orlowo and the sea marina nearby.

Travelling around the Pomorskie region it is also worth going to Slupsk with its Witkacy painting collection at the Pomorskie Duke Castle, The  Railway Museum in Koscierzyna, Kwidzyn with its former Teutonic castle or Wejherowo with its baroque Station of the Cross.

One more attraction of Pomorskie region are the cultural heritage trail, such as: the gothic castle trail, the amber trail, the Cistercian trail, the palaces and mansions of Northern Kashuby trail or the hydrotechnical trail.

On the Water

Kilometres of sandy beaches, the sound of waves and beautiful sunsets, including windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving, yacht cruises and all types of fishing – these are just a few proposals with the Baltic Sea in the background. However, Pomorskie is not only the sea! What do you say on over 30 navigable rivers with a total length of almost 3,000 kilometres? Thanks to the extensive network of water routes and the launch of the Żuławy Loop project, discovering the region from the level of a kayak or a sailboat deck will provide unforgettable impressions to the whole family.

Active

Not for you lazy sunbathing and evening walks along the seaside boulevard? You prefer active resting? No problem! Pomorskie is almost 2 thousand kilometres of bicycle routes, almost 3 thousand kilometres of canoe trails, including hiking through forests and forests, horse riding, Nordic walking and even golf courses and tennis courts. In winter, we will surprise you with ski slopes and sledding rides. Pomeranian for active people – all year round!

Una curiosidad arquitectónica de escala europea es el muelle de Sopot, el muelle de madera más largo de Europa. Pomorskie tiene casi 2 mil kilómetros de rutas para bicicletas, casi 3 mil kilómetros de rutas para canoas. Poland – Easy to Access

Gdańsk is served by Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN), located 12 km from the city centre. The airport has direct flights to most major European air hubs, with a flight time of approximately two hours from London, Paris, Amsterdam or Frankfurt. The city is also well connected to Warsaw, the capital of Poland, by air or high-speed trains. 

Moving Around Poland

A high-speed rail trip from Warsaw to Gdańsk takes 2.5 hours. Domestic flight prices are relatively affordable, and there is a modern highway system connecting major cities.
