IST Programme

Being an IST at WSJ Poland 2027 means far more than volunteering. The programme is built around the belief that every IST deserves a genuine Jamboree experience of their own alongside their service, and in the time beyond their duties.

Off-duty time opens a wide range of possibilities; from active and social moments to learning, exploration, and rest. From midday onwards, the IST campsite begins to buzz with activity. The iconic Black Magic Tent opens its doors for board games, brick-built creations, and facilitated talks, before transforming each evening into a lively venue with concerts and karaoke nights.

Across the site, there is always something happening; from sports and outdoor challenges to more relaxed ways of spending time. The Chill-Out Area, with spaces for rest, quiet activities, and wellbeing, offers a chance to slow down and recharge. Those looking to explore further during their free time can also head offsite to Gdańsk, discovering its history and culture or simply spending time by the Baltic Sea.

Whatever your energy level, there is always something waiting and always a way to make the experience your own.

IST Programme areas and paths

The IST programme is built around five main areas, giving volunteers a wide range of activities to choose from. Everyone can pick what fits their interests and energy. Each person’s choices will shape their Jamboree path, whether alone, with friends or with new friends, and bring new experiences to take home.

Adventure is all about action. Enjoy swimming and water games at the beach, go hiking, or stay in the campsite for camp walks, scavenger-hunt games, and morning or evening runs.

Chill-Out is the place to rest. In the Chill-Out Plaza you can relax in hammocks, read a book, try meditation or yoga, and use a small sauna or salt-water foot baths. It’s designed for quiet time and recovery.

Culture lets you discover music, food, and local life. Join beach hangouts, campfires, music quizzes, playing instruments, or group singing and dancing. Off-site options include self-guided city tours and visits to museums in the beautiful city of Gdańsk.

Fun keeps the camp lively. You’ll find board games, karaoke, a brick-build corner, quizzes, and speed-friending; classic IST activities such as badge swapping and relaxing at the café are joined by team sports like football, frisbee, and volleyball. Bigger events include IST’s Got Talent and the Opening and Closing ceremonies.

Innovation is where learning and sharing happen. Take part in Scout-talks, open-space discussions, workshops, and group sessions in the Training & Exploring Tent. This area is a space for learning new skills and gaining practical knowledge that go beyond everyday service work, making time at the Jamboree a real chance to grow.

These areas don’t exist in isolation — they are the building blocks of a personal journey through the Jamboree. To help ISTs make the most of their free time, the programme offers a set of optional paths: curated frameworks that combine activities from across the five areas into a coherent personal experience. Each path has its own flavour and focus, drawing more heavily from some areas than others, but no path is rigid. Rather than a fixed schedule, a path gives each IST a loose guide — suggesting which types of activities and which combinations of themes to seek out, while leaving the actual choices entirely open. If a path calls for something physical and self-focused, you might choose a morning run, some time at the gym or a hike somewhere, whatever fits your day. The paths are there to add shape and intention to free time without removing spontaneity, ensuring that whether you have one free hour or a full day off, you always have a sense of direction, and the choices to create your own personalized experience.
