International Food Houses
At the 2027 World Scout Jamboree, we invite everyone to be Brave and embrace a fresh approach to International Food Houses. Our vision is to create a vibrant Food Court and Festival atmosphere, featuring a central shared seating area, contingent-led food and drink concepts arranged around the edge, and a stage at one end to host performances and entertainment.
We understand that some contingents may wish to bring a more traditional-style Food House, and these too can be accommodated within the Food House space. The goal is to bring everyone together in a shared environment, celebrating cultural diversity while maintaining each contingent’s unique identity.
This concept isn’t just about food and drink—it’s about sharing global experiences, culture, and friendship. Scouts are welcome to simply enjoy the atmosphere, music, and company.
By centralizing most of the seating, we can create opportunities for smaller, lower-cost, and lower-footprint concepts, allowing more contingents to participate. You might choose to serve a traditional dish, a regional drink, or even contribute through music, games, or performances on the stage.
Perhaps your contingent can’t bring a full food concept but wants to share your culture in another way—the stage is your platform! Host a game, run a contest, perform, or DJ; every contribution adds to the global celebration. Imagine Scouts gathered together enjoying Italian pizza, Swiss fondue, German bratwurst, British fish and chips, bubble tea, and artisan drinks—while being entertained by a Hawaiian dance routine or dancing to a lively Europop DJ set from the Netherlands. This is the spirit of Jamboree: friendship, culture, and connection.
Our ambition is to make the Food Houses more sustainable than ever before, addressing key environmental impacts such as:
- Shipping of kitchen equipment internationally
- Disposable packaging and utensils
- Wastewater and food waste production
To support contingents in being both sustainable and cost-effective, we propose the following measures:
- A disposable-free event, with centralized dishwashing facilities and waste sorting supported by IST, enabling the use of reusable tableware.
- Inclusive equipment and facility packages, offered within price bands to reduce both financial and environmental costs associated with transporting materials.
Together, let’s be brave, creative, and sustainable, and make the WSJ2027 Food Houses a true celebration of global culture, friendship, and responsible Scouting.
